I remember my first day in year 7, all the way to my sixth form enrolment, and I can confidently say Lea Valley has helped shape me to the woman I am today. From preparing for my GCSE’s, studying for A Levels and preparing for life after sixth form too. From year 12 to year 13 was also a big jump as the nerves of A-Levels coming around was a stressful time, as well as the workload. The sixth form team were not only very helpful and attentive for my studies, but also resourceful with my UCAS application and potential career pathways. I am now studying Primary Education at UEL to become a Primary School Teacher, and this is all thanks to Lea Valley Academy.

As a student who attended Lea Valley Academy from year 7 to year 13, I can confidently say that Lea Valley Academy provided me with both support and resources in order to achieve the best grades I possibly could. Prior to Sixth form, I had no idea what a degree apprenticeship was. The sixth form team and careers advisor provides you with course information and potential routes I can take post-sixth form. I learned more about the courses, the roles I could pursue and how it was perfect for the career path I was looking into joining. In addition to my hard work and determination, teachers helped me throughout my interview process, advice on how to answer questions, and helped me through exam season, suggesting revision methods or providing before/after class help. I applied to Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment banking firm and after passing three difficult interview stages, and achieving AAA at A Level, I am now a Software Engineer Degree Apprentice.

The journey from year 7 to year 13 through Lea Valley has given me friends I have made for life, good fun memories and opportunities for the future. Through my Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, Lea Valley Academy have helped unlock new pathways for my future, which led me to enrol at the University of Leicester, studying Accounting. I also have the option to extend my course a year to study abroad, or a one-year work placement at an established accountancy firm. The sixth form team provided great resources for my studies and helped me with my UCAS application from beginning to end. Lea Valley provided me with a valuable lesson now that I am entering my adult years. I had great school journey, and I would go back and do it all over again.
